e11e

e11e is a DJ, vocalist, producer and radio presenter originally from South Africa now based in London and Manchester.

One third of electronic trio, S.E.T. alongside S L F and Bazaar the trio had their first single ‘Full Boom’’ put out on Kevin Saunderson’s KMS Records, two EPs ‘You’re Not Leaving’ and ‘The Portal’ followed out on Secret Music, and another single ‘Fly’ out on Get Physical as part of the label’s ‘Words Don’t Come Easy’ mixtape series. The group’s third EP ‘Holographic Atoms’ is set for release on Get Physical mid-2020.

As a vocalist e11e’s ethereal voice and leftfield lyricism has won fans in the electronic music scene worldwide, with a growing number of producers seeking her out to add another depth to their work. A single with dnb producer Dimension is set for release on his upcoming album, while session vocals for EMI, Ram Records and a number of electronic producers in the worlds of house, disco and ambient keep her busy.

e11e’s productions are heavily influenced by ambient and electronica, inspired by the fusion of analogue synthesis, organic sounds and electronic experimentation. Her most uptempo work picks up where nineties ambient dance music pioneers such as Leftfield and Orbital and Underworld left off while a large body of her compositions have touches of Nils Frahm and Floating Points with live piano recordings and experimental soundscapes. Expect hypnotic builds, drum machines and synth loops laced with organic vocals, piano and field recordings.

e11e’s DJ sets (including those previously at festivals such as Secret Garden Party, Wilderness, Torture Garden and clubs like Ministry of Sound and Lightbox) are eclectic journeys that refuse to be boxed in by one genre and can comfortably feature acid jazz, electro, disco re-edits and French, African and Latin influences alongside deep, underground dance music.

She has a monthly show T.H.E.R.A.P.Y. on Manchester station Reform Radio and a residency at London’s Near & Far in Peckham Levels where she runs a night called Disco Sister, focused on jazz, funk, disco and ‘sounds from afar’ with an emphasis on vinyl and supporting women and POC.
